Sprocket issue

jwag
I want to replace my sprockets on my 79 750K. The chain tightens and loosens significantly as the wheel turns which can not be a good sign . It currently has a 14 and 39 tooth setup which I am finding to be a bit strange. I might just have to buy a new set of sprockets and chain also. Looking for advice on what might be the best sprocket/chain setup for this bike. Thanks!

I myself never realy changed away from the stock tooth setup on my bikes.
I have the stock chain on my 750 but a roller chain on my ninja.
i will be getting a roller for the 750 in the future since it has been outlasting the old style chains.

Me < I would get the stock sprockets and roller chain for it.
How good are your adjusters?

I have pretty much decided to go to a 15/38 setup. Everything I have read says that is the original setup. It will give me a little lower RPM on the road but should not be a significant drop.

The chain adjusters seem to be fine.

Thanks for the comment.

your 15/38 is the same as 14/39,,no difference,,14/38 might lower you rpm a little at cruising speed, but not much, i went down 3 teeth in the rear sprocket and am satisfied with results, have to shorten chain a little but your gettin a new one anyway so??  good luck, mykey440

awfully low geared, you can order chain& sprockets at your local honda shop, get aftermarket parts,,jt sprockets are good, and D.I.D chain, 530.....I would go down on your rear sprocket a few teeth, a little less rpm at cruising speed, still gets out of the whole good...mykey440
