Hi, I just bought a 1979 CB750K 10 Anniv. Model and am fixing it up right now.
When I tried to start the bike the starter made a rotating sound, but the engine didn't start. It sounded like at first it rotated the starter a bit, but then missed some kind of connection and started spinning freely, stopping with a horrendous hamming sound that made my heart jump. It did it one more time and then third time it was successful. If I repeat the procedure result is sometime different, albeit similar. Sometimes it has no problem firing up, but sometimes the above mentioned happens.
I'm wondering what could it be? Starter clutch? Starter? By the way, sorry for stupid question, but starter is different from starter clutch? I imagine, if it's starter clutch, some of the teeth would be missing and that why sometimes it doesn't have good friction?
Thanks a lot
