Steering Lock

cbRider
The steering lock on my 81 CB750F Super Sport in not working.
I assume that when I turn the key to the lock position and remove it the plunger of the lock is supposed to extend out of the housing and prevent the fork from turning. Am I correct?
In my case the plunger is not extending.
Maybe somebody can shed some light on it for me.
thanks.

I have a 1901 CB 750K and to lock the steering, I have to ( once the  front wheel has been turned full lock left or right ) push down on the key and then turn to the locing mechansism to the left, and then remove the key. If the lock is coming out of the housing then you definately have a problem as its not designed to protrude from the housing.

Thanks, gonebiking, for the input. The bike is fairly new to me and I don't have an owners manual. The lock was a bit sticky and I didn't want to force it. Some WD40 and patience cleared it right up.

Hi Karl
Glad to know that all is well with the steering lock. Amazing what a little WD40 can do - even here in Australia, where I am from, and have been on this forum since about the fourth day it started, and that goes back to June or July last year. Many of us have been able to help hundreds of people with most of them suffering from the the same complaints - Carburettor problems and a few electrical and where to get parts from.
