Strange chainguard.....

katmol
I'm looking at buying a '74 CB that's got a completely enclosed chainguard. Looks to be as old as the bike. Was this a factory item. I've never seen one before!!

hey there i believe what you are asking about is an automatic chain lubricator. i think that was an avalible aftermarket add on. ive seen a few here and there. has its pros and cons though.keeps chain pretty clean and lubed but its hard to tell is chain stretch occurs and can damage your sprokets if you dont keep and eye on it. all in all i think they are ok but i wouldnt use one i like to be able to see my chain. i check for slack just about every time i ride. a thing my grand father taught me when i was about 12 and him teaching my to ride his old  70's kawasaki kz400 around the yard. when i say yard he owned 20 acres of flat field.
