Stripped screws

Seacat
Well this kind of sucks. I am taking apart and cleaning the carbs on my bike. (1981 CB750c) Two of the screws have stripped, both on the same carb. One is on the top cover and the other is on the Float Bowl Cover. Any ideas where I can get replacements? Can I use something I get from a hardware store?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.

If you have a Lowe's in your area, they have a specialty section in the hardware area. I'm thinking they go down to M4 threaded screws but these would be bigger than that I think. Possibly M5. I've replaced a bunch of screws from there.

Indeed....any hardware store...Some better than others.  I like to use stainless, allen head, when possible.

Thanks you two. I visited True Value and found just what I needed. M4's and M5's, both in 15mm length. (The screws for the float bowls are M4's and the screws for the top cover are M5's.) I bought enough of these in Stainless, Allen Head to replace all of the screws on the carbs.

If you are using stainless  screws be SURE to lube the threads with something like anti-sieze compound. Lots of times the stainless screws will " pick up" the softer metals and destroy the threads when you have to force them out.
