Alright guys,
1979 CB750K
I purchased
these bushings from vintagecb750.com, knocked out my old nylon ones, and reinstalled with the bronze ones. Unfortunately, my swingarm collar fits loose in the bronze bushings, defeating the purpose of having installed them in the first place.
Customer service at vintagcb750 said the following:
"This is a very complicated matter. Apparently Honda made various different collars for the exact same bikes. This results in most fitting fine but if you are one of the people who got this "other" shaft you are going to have a tough time finding a bronze one that will work and perhaps anyone that will work. We experienced this with the early years of CB750 but never this Cb750K 1979 which as far as we knew didn't have this issue but maybe a few bikes have these other shafts as well."
They're willing to refund me in full for the bushings. Great-- except now I have a bunch of broken nylon pieces and an un-ridable bike.
Can anyone recommend to me a set of bushings that they
know will fit snug on the '79 K? Or perhaps a reliable resource for finding a collar that will work? Is there any jerry-rig I can pull off to make these not-perfect bronze bushings work?
Any advice welcome and appreciated.
