I agree.
2X planks would be very heavy to move around, and with 800lbs of bike plus a persons
weight on that board would need a middle support.

Also need to weld metal D rings all around the sides and front.
You may need to put a tarp over the bike to keep all the bugs and dirt off.

Well I decided to use a set of old aluminum ramps I bought years ago to load my lawn tractor into my pickup when I bought it at Lowe's (never used them again) They have a 1,300 Lb capacity. I widened them by attaching 12,  3 ft deck boards between them.

As predicted, the Venture is bowing the board under it's rear wheel. I will have to place a bit of plywood across the boards to equalize the load across all the boards.

Wheel chocks from Harbor Freight work GREAT. Without straps the Venture is off it's side stand sitting straight.

Tomorrow I will be installing 10,000 Lbs capacity D rings.

sorry for chiming in, but i'm bored due to rain delay.  I googled motorcycle trailer for some ideas.
most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handelbars to the saddle.

The board on the deck of the trailer,or on the ramp? A bowing ramp is no big deal. It'll flex a ton and not hurt anything. As long as you dont hear it cracking. If it's a deck board just pop another piece of steel in that spot to reinforce it for that particular bike.

You did a heck of a job on that trailer bud! Wouldn't recognize it unless you knew better.

OOH!  Steel! Good Idea!, I have extra 1/4 plate from the build big enough to cover the & distribute the weight over several boards.

Good call, Thanks!

Sorry I am late on this, realized after I hit "REPLY"

I brought home a couple pieces of this catwalk from work a while back. It's officially called "plank grating" ....weld up a frame out of angle or box and drop in two 24" pieces and you're in business.

You can get it a various metal suppliers but McMaster Carr is always a good place to search for what ever you need. Here is what is available in the style I have.
