Taco Oil leak

Myumi-2
My 1972 CB750 has just developed quite a reasonable oil leak from around where the Taco cable enters the top right hand side of the engine.

I had a quick look last night and could not see any apparent reason.

I'd welcome any suggestions on the cause and solution?

The good news is, oil is making it to the top of the engine.

Cheers
Tim

Is it difficult to replace?

Very easy. You remove the philips that holds the cable in, then use a screw and turn it into the seal and pull it out. A new one just slips right in. Whole job takes maybe a couple minutes unless for some reason you have to take the tank off which you shouldnt need to.

$3 and 15 minutes.  I used an 8mm socket to push the washer into place.

Problem fixed.

Thanks

Hi Tim,

I also have a 1972 that developed the same leak. There is a tiny, difficult to install rubber seal in there that might be the cause of the leak. Not an expensive fix, just a little tricky.

All the best,
Steve.
