The Old Girl Still Runs!

vicman
This 73 is my first true love. My dad bought it and rode it when I was a kid. When I turned 16 this was my first skoot and the one I have always had a special feeling for. By the time I was 18 I had moved on to bigger and newer bikes and then moved 750 miles away. Ironic right? After a few years I even left bikes all togeather and was racing cars. However a few years ago my dad asked if I wanted the Old Girl. Heck YEA!!! She has been silently waiting in my basement untill a week ago when I dediced to clean the tank and see if she still turned over.
I am happy to report we are in love all over again!!!1332626467691.jpg1335145185430.jpg1335143098989.jpg

These bikes hibernate very well. You might need to replace some rubber bits or gaskets.
You never forget your first loves though!
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Cool!!! I can relate to your story. Mine was a 1972 CB 350 that my Mother had bought in 1974. I was riding it around the yard when I was 11 years old. I was riding it all around town like I had a license when I was 14. I rode it to School, work, and cruise town on it every day, and night. When I turned 18 I got a Harley, and forgot about the 350. My Mom sold it at a garage sale. A few years later I started to realize how much I missed that bike. I just recently found a replacement, for it, but it will not quite the same.

Thats awesome! Glad you still got her ,good luck getting her all back right again. Those are some crazy looking pipes! I dig 'em! One question,though...on that last pic,is that poo that came out of the tail pipe?

Regardless, cool bike and an even cooler story.Welcome to the forum!

That poo did indeed blow out of the pipe . It would seem a mouse set up house at some point over the last 27 years.  It looks like dog

I took her out again for a little longer ride last night to A, fill the gas tank to prevent rust issues and B, circulate some oil.
I swear it sounds as great as she did when I was a kid!
Now to rebuild the forks and get some new rubber on.
I'm thinking about some Dunlop Elite II's. I always liked that old skool drag look with the raised whites.
Any other suggestions on tires?

Now I want to find another one just to make into a cafe ride.

I actually have a dunlop elite front tire that I am not using. Its practically new but it doesn't have white letters. If you are interested I'd sell it for $25 plus shipping.

Unngh!!
You are killing me man! I really have my heart set on seeing it with those brilliant letters popping out the side but what a deal!
Take a look at how much to ship to 28671. Most of the online guys I have looked at for pricing have free shipping...but not anywhere near your price.

How old is the tire?

FWIW, It looks like I will be the proud owner of a 80 CB 750 basket case shortly. I smell my hot CR (cafe racer) edition cooking.

Piute, It would seem mine has a 19" front and a 90/16 rear.
So far the best online price is $113 for a front and $ 167 for the rear.

I saw somewhere where a guy took white-out and filled the black letters with it. Got the same end result. Just washes off when you wash the bike. 10 minutes later, and your letters are white again!
