Throttle cables quandary

Re-run
Administrator
So, yesterday I was mounting my carbs after giving the insides and jets a good visual.
I hooked my top throttle cable back up and suddenly my carbs do not close by themselves.
Kinda had that last year too. These are not old cables BUT they are not honda cables. They are motion pro.
They are constructed ok but the close cable seems to be about 1/4 inch too short. Really strange as a couple years ago they worked fine and I did lube them yesterday. If I hooked the cable up but did not mount it, no problem, but once mounted, it jammed. I even greased the throttle tube housing.

So I just went against my better thoughts and left that cable disconnected. My return spring is in good shape so it should last for a while till I buy a new honda cable.

They sure do not leave much to spare on the cables. Could it have moved some where along it's routing, and catching on something? I had that problem on the Toolmatic. When I would turn the handlebars to the right, I could not move the throttle.

Well I checked that pretty good. I tried a number of different routings and handlebar position did not matter.
Hell, just to get it seated required twisting the throttle back and forth.
Only thing I could think of is the cable may be binding inside the control housing. I could use a new tube I suppose.

Could the issue be in the throttle grip itself? Maybe the cable has popped out of the track while the extra slag was there? When you twist the throttle can you hear any crunchy noises from the inside of the throttle control assembly inside the grip?
