If you do need  to replace rubber, get one of the Randakk kits. They have everything except float needles. The downloads section here has an excellent guide to carbs.

How did you make out with the charging system. It's fairly easy to diagnose with a VOM.

Yeah I downloaded the factory manual and printed out the charging system diagnostics pages so I'll just go through that process and should find it.

Just remember that if the rotor shorted out it probably took the regulator with it.

I'm searching online for carburetor seal kits and no trouble finding them but none of them include the float needle jet, they say unavailable.  Anyone know where to find four of them for my 78?

Which of those carb kits (Randakk) is compatible with our cb750's?  They are all for other bikes

Does my bike have an air cut off valve?  I'm not sure what it is or what it does.  Is that the butterfly in the throat of the carburetor?  And the butterfly pivot is the rod the butterflys are connected to?  What happens when the butterfly pivots are worn out?

Sounds like it needs a complete service. All fluids.

Can you show us the "rod" that you keep talking about?

Do not worry about the butterfly pivots right now. Do not force them!!!

They almost NEVER wear out.

But the float needles and seats are THE most important part of the carbs.

It is the throttle rod that connects all the carburetors, dont have pic atm.  Do you know who sells the seats for the float needle?  The kits I have found dont have it.
