I am in the process of making a prototype set of forward controls, bu cannot decide on how to mount the footpeg clevis on the shaft. The clevis I am using is designed to attach with a 3/8" bolt threaded into the back of it, so I need a 3/8" stud to mount it. I cannot decide if I want to turn down the shaft, and thread it like in the top drawing, or drill and tap the shaft, and use a threaded stud (cut off bolt) like in the bottom drawing. The turned down, and threaded shaft would be more professional, and only have one point of threaded connection, but if it were ever damaged the only way to repair it would be to cut it off, and drill and tap it for the stud like in the bottom drawing. However if I did it like in the bottom drawing, it would be able to be removed, and replaced if it were damaged.
