Turn Signal Flasher

I am having trouble with my turn signal flashers on a 1976 CB 750K.  I need to know the location of the flasher unit. Is it in the headlight bucket or in the wiring compartment under the left side cover.?  It won't  flash, so I can't hear the ticking noise they normally make.  Also, when I locate it, is there any way to test the unit before I just replace the unit?

The flash unit is under the left cover towards the back. I don't know how to test it but an electronic replacement is about $10 from an autoparts store. I dont have a particular number and when I replaced mine, I did not use a particular model and it has worked ok.
Have you checked your switch though? It could be dirty and needs cleaning and lube.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

A bad ground will also keep them from flashing.

Another thing to check is the bulbs on that side.  If one side works and the other side doesn't, then the flasher unit is good.  If a bulb is bad, it doesn't put the correct load on the flasher unit, and it won't work.

Some of the newer bulbs have a different filament in them (to save power, perhaps).  Make sure the bulbs are the correct ones for your bike.

Thanks. For some reason, I have been checking wires, and forgot to check the bulbs. Going to do that next, and if that is not the problem, going to replace the flasher unit.

Back on 2 wheels (1979 CB750L, 34K miles, all stock) after a 30+ year break. It's still fun, and just as scary as before.  I like it.
