Unable to get the pins out of my front brake caliper - ideas?

This post was updated on .
As the subject says. I've got everything off, but the two pins that hold the pads in place will not budge. I've tried pulling by hand and via plyers, to no avail. Do they screw into place? I've already removed the smaller wire/pin that went through both.

This is for my '81 Custom - stock calipers.

At work right now, will be able to post a picture when I get home, if needbe.

Here's a breakdown I found online of a caliper similar to mine:

The wire/pin I was referring to is labelled as 23 in this. I'm trying to remove pins (labelled 22)

Those pins should slide out easily. If not, they must either be very rusty or bound up somehow.

Would WD-40 be a no-no?
