Re: Help

Andycb500
Hi. I just bought an old CB500 and wondered if someone here could confirm the model.
Frame number is CB500-1022481
Engine number is CB550E-1129781
It's a custom looking shape, did they make a custom ?
Thanks Andy

That would be a K7 manufactured in 1973.

Re: Help

I have a bunch of classic Hondas that I need to decode.  So far my Google-fu is weak.  Can anyone hook a brother up with the source to decipher these?

Example of one is: CL350-1042137

Just to clarify, I am not looking to just find out about THIS bike, but how to look up to find out about many other bikes as well.

Thanks in advance,

TS

Honda would start each new model with serial numbers starting with #1. The second-year with #2... So you just need to know what year Honda started building your model and that would be the year with the serial numbers starting with #1. Your CL having a serial starting with #1 would make it a first-year 1969. Also, until 1977 Honda did not list bikes as having a year. They are listed as "Models with no year" and just go by their model designation, Example CB 750s go K0 for 1969, K1 1970, K2 1971...
