Hey all, I'm picking up my engine from the machine shop tomorrow after having new exhaust valve guides installed which was the last major project I had to do before starting reassembly of the bike. What I'm wondering is, are there any other commonly replaced critical components during a rebuild that I should be looking at? The reason I ask is because I had no idea the exhaust valve guides commonly wear out quickly on the 77/78's until I found mine to be bad. The bike currently has ~26K miles and was running before tear-down. I'm open to suggestions on all systems- engine, electrical, chassis, etc. If it's something that can be done with moderate disassembly on a complete bike, I'll just save the job for later
Some things I've done:
-exhaust valve guides & related work
-valve seals
-cylinder studs
-wheel seals
-carb rebuild including accelerator pump
-caliper rebuild kits
Pretty much everything else I've done is irrelevant to this topic.
