first bike didn't originally come with plastic tie straps?
most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handelbars to the saddle.

Other than the zip ties which do not bother me, I guess it is the idiot light handlebar clamp.
Didn't the original gauges have the idiot lights built into it?

Wouldn't that be the FIRST TWO pics? The double disc brakes on the front?

Lucky your right on with the discs. The others are real close with the zip ties. The controls are not the right ones, for a K-3. The K-3 had the wires for the controls run through the handlebars.

I remember those days when I was a mechanic.
The sharp edges of the oblong slot in the handlebars would chaff
the wires and short something out.
A real mess to repair.
Very time consuming.
We would try to talk the customer into leaving the wires outside of the bars if possible.
The smart ones would take the advice.

I was looking at predrilled bars from Dime City Cycles. It looks like they've done a fairly good job of rounding out the edges on the slots. I'd still put a rubber grommet in the slot though.

This was the one I was looking at....
