What year and model also keys

Niglezz
I just dug this Honda 750 out of the back of an old garage in Vermont yesterday. vin # is RC012009308. black no key so far. look like there is a key broken off in the gas tank lock. Any luck that that fits the ignition too?

I do not have a listing of the DOHC serial#, but several guys here do, so I am sure one will be by to tell you the year. On the key, it is possible that it will fit the ignition since Honda used a single key.

The tank, helmet lock and ignition use the same key. You can get a new ignition off ebay pretty cheap (with a key). A locksmith may be able to make you a key, if I recall correctly, there's a serial number on the helmet lock that provides the code to make the key.

There were three models, C, K and F. They're all the same mechanically. Just google 1979 CB750C, K and F for images. Or post a pic here and we'll tell you what it is.

Thank you. Will check it out in daylight tomorrow. So any manual for a 750 Honda (mechanically) would be ok to follow? no matter which model? My first vehicle was 360 cc Benelli, Lemon Yellow from Montgomery Wards back in the day. 1 cylinder. Have not rubbed up against many motorcycles since. Trying to get back to stuff I like. My brother had a 350 Honda. Loved the sound of it. That was early 1970.

79 to 82 use the same manual.  You can download it from the home page of this forum.

Think of  this bike as 4 one cylinders.  LOL.

As far as I am aware, Honda used a single key design. My 750 had a new ingnition cylinder, so they key was different from the tank. I didn't have a tank key, but a locksmith made me one for $28. I'm sure someone could re-key the entire bike for around $60 if you can take it to them.

if all are stock, 1 key fits all.

last year I was quoted 125.00 for a locksmith to make a new key.

If you can get the broken chunk out, the original keys had a code on them. It may be of some use.

Finally a chance to take two pictures of the CB750, hoping one of you will know what model, 1979 CB750 it is. . It has a windshield (faring) that is not on it. Had to take it off to transport it home. It's a little beat up on the edges. Hope to resurrect it.

Some people on here will know better than me but my understanding is that on the SOHCs (yes, before someone says it, I know this is a DOHC) any key would work on any bike - certainly for the tank and helmet lock.  That's my experience anyway.

Hello,

I have a 1981 Honda CB750. On my ignition switch there is off -- on -- and lock. I accidently turned to key to lock. The tail light came on and I cannot get the key to move or get it out. I disconnected the tail light. Still cannot get the key to move or get it out.

Help please

Wiggle the forks? Maybe the lock is jammed where it touches the frame.

But your tail light shouldn't come on in that key position anyway. You may just need a new switch.

Sounds like you moved it to "PARK" not lock.  On my 79F, the park position makes the tail light come on.  I think you have to press the key down, then turn, to get it off there, same as the steering head lock.  Been a while since I tried those, but worth a shot.
