Will a seat from a 1976 bike fit my 1977?

Hey all. Just wondering if I could use a seat from a 1972-76 CB750 on my 1977? Not sure how much different the fitment would be. I prefer the flatter look of the older seat and might even get a 76 cover and shave my foam down. So if anyone has any idea about seat sizes any help would be much appreciated! Thanks,
Blackie

The 77-78 seats mount differently then the earlier seats. You would need to change the mounts to install an earlier seat.

You would be better off either shaving the foam down or getting new foam. Much less work. Also, there is an issue with gap between the tank and seat. I just can't remember if you would have a gap or need to make 1.

Contact the guy that posted this http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/I-CUSTOMIZE-SEATS-td4055619.html#a4055625

I have a similar seat on my 78. Uses the stock seat pan, just recovered for a 'cafe' look.

Before that, I recovered a stock '78 seat shaving some foam off the back. Used a cover for a '77 off ebay (was around $40 IIRC).
