Wiring diagram confusion?? 81 CB750F SS

slownugly007
Hey guys! Im in the process of re-wiring my bike and trying to clean up the old wires and install new components. My trouble is with the ground wire (green). On the diagram it shows it dead ending into a black square...the one near the turn signal relay was just an unused spade connector but the other ones i cant find?? Do I need to run something or can i just connect all the green wires to one and ground it all?? Any help woul be appreciated! Thanks!

According to the symbol conventions used in that diagram, they are all ending in female spade connectors.  Is that true?  If so, they may be test connectors, or accessible Ground connectors, used in troubleshooting, but that is my educated guess.  Tracing them around the circuit, some do appear to connect to Chassis Ground.  Make sure they all connect to Chassis Ground, in the diagram, before Grounding them!  You can also try using a Digital Volt Meter's Continuity Test, to see if they all currently connect to Ground (assumes their wiring is good), before you replace them.  Cheers!

Grounds have to ground somewhere. Honda likes to run ground wires, for everything back to the battery instead of using frame grounds. However it would not hurt to ground these wires to the frame. I often add frame grounds to these old bikes. Eliminates a lot of electrical problems due to bad grounds. I also wonder if the diagram has a mistake in the symbols. Could they have forgot to add the arrows?

Just a guess, but the ones in the red box look like they connect to the right and left turn signals.  How about if those "extra" lines are for a fairing?

I can't comment on the green box, but I agree with TOOLS.  On my 79 CB750, there was a green wire that bolted to the frame under the seat.  That was the ground for the whole wiring harness.  Same thing with a friend's 1975 CB500: 1 green wire for ground.

Good luck, and let us know if we can help more.

Yea the diagram in my clymers manual is super easy to follow up until I follow the green wires. I thought it might have been a mistake also, but like I said the one near the TS relay was just an unused connector as for the other ones there was nothing, no connector or loose wire?? When i pulled my harness i noticed only one frame ground. Also, in my manual for the front half of the bike the green wires dont connect with the back half, it shows an itersection but its unconnected? I have no idea, i was just gonna ground the front seperately to the original and connect it to the back half and maybe ground it also, but again im not sure if this will fry anything?

I just went thru ALL  the wires in the headlight bucket and there is lots Grn.grounds. They were all pretty good but 1 "Y" connector that were soldered onto the dog ear nuts inside for signal lights, changed most plan to have all new real soon next week end

My guess why HONDA put all the ground WIRES is everthing is Alluminum witch is NOT a grounding spot,
my tour pack grounds to the frame were I put all the rear grounds
