Xl125 rc 1982. PLEASE HELP

RyanTraynor96
So basically I am in possession of a Honda xl 125 r(C) 1982. The bike is a non runner atm. The previous owner has swapped the engine for a cb125se engine and I can't for the life of me figure out where all the wiring goes. I have the wiring diagram for the xl engine and it's not adding up with current wiring in place. It has been a complete DIY job by the looks of it. And considering finding a 1982 xl 125 engine is like gold dust, I am looking for suggestions where to start with this bike.

I would start by getting a wiring diagram for both bikes and compare them. They should have all the same wires but may be different colors. The engine should have 2-3 wires coming from the stator, and wires for the neutral indicator, oil pressure switch, and points. These should not be too hard to match up.

Re: Xl125 rc 1982. PLEASE HELP

Hi there thanks for the reply. I have the wiring diagram for the Xl and I will post. From the engine (stator) there are 3 cables. White, pink and yellow. There is also a separate black and red cable which should be going to the stator also. This however is snapped.

From the points there is a green cable which is going to the ignition coil. According to the wiring diagram there should be 2 cables from the points. A blue/yellow and a green. These would connect to the cdi unit if the engine was correct. From the cdi unit there are 2 spare cables, one blue/yellow and one green. I am unsure where these cables go as the engine does not match.

I will upload pictures to help understand this better.
