about to start my project

cheesehead
Now that I have my 81 750k finally running at 100% with no leaks or squeaks I am ready to start customizing. My issue is when I look up parts/mods/whatever, most seem to be for the early-mid 70s models. I don't need to go full out like a lot of the bikes I see, really more concerned with seat/paint/bars/signals/etc. Frame work is almost entirely out of the question because I don't believe I can do it myself.

ANY ideas for my model year would be GREATLY appreciated. Could I get away with a new seat pan, some paint, clubman bars, and maybe one of those round(ish) front fairings/windshields? Or would that look tacky? I know, I know, it's MY project and I should do what I want, but creativity has never been one of my strong points.

Oh, I'd also like to get a 4-1 exhaust, but all the ones I was checking out on Cycle X, etc. seem to be for earlier model years than mine. ugh... which brings another question....if I change my exhaust will I have to greatly change/adjust anything other than my carbs? Thanks!

OR, would I be better off to sell this one for $1000+ and get an older F model?

Talk to cycle X about their exhaust systems. A lot of the exhaust systems from the earlier models will fit the DOHC models. I would also paint it an orange/yellow

It looks like you might have a stock 4 into 4 exhaust on there. If it's it good condition you could sell if for enough to by a 4 into 1. The stock exhaust 4/4 are made of unobtainium and sets in good condition are highly sought after by those looking for the restored/stock look.

A nice complete unmolested stock motorcycle like that I would just leave alone and concentrate on details and getting things fixed that someday will no longer be available for it.
