Could not help you with out all of the facts.
CB 750?
What year?
What number is stamped on the carbs? 657? 7a's?
idle jets?
main jets?
Needle position counting from the top?
Mixture screw adjustment?
I sure would not just let the engine run at 4000 rpms all the time!
Pods or velocity stacks- it is still tuneable. But if you are going to
put the stock air filter on it you might as well wait.

I've seen pictures of some with plastic bags over each one ,I ask the guy and he said they work great and people don't really notice,(they were wraped nice)find it hard to believe but he said it worked,i don't plan to change my box yet so didn't get any details.

i have to look for the stamp, where will it be on top? only stamp i see states kei K hin
it is a 1981 cb750f super sport, 14,000 miles on it. starts almost right up. runs and idles smooth till it warms up. once warm, say twenty mins or so starts going up in idle. jumping a couple hundred rpms at a time, i do use the twist nob to turn the idle down.
but anything under 2,000 to 2,200 rpms and it will just die, on ocasion i i did idle about 1300, but going to the end of the road whic is less then a mile, the idle is back at 4,000 so i have to pull over and start back over again. it does this really bad when going down hill. or when really windy out.
when under a load, (clutch out and driving) it does not do this at all.
i beleave it is getting to much air. and have had it severiced a couple times. so now i am figureing on just putting the orginial air box back on it. and i am hopeing, i will be able to put the orginal jets back on myself, if this shop did anything, honestly i can not tell,
side note...... my neighbor is telling my i should just get a synch tool and synch the carbs, but i am still holding onto beleaving it is a air issue. is there a test to figure which one is right. i do try to do most of this my self so work is slow but steady
i took off the pods while running and placed my hand over the hole it and it was covered in gas, does this help at all?

Have you checked for a vacuum leak? Could be something that only shows up after it's warm.
That said, it really shouldn't die below 2000 rpm... I'm just spitballing at this point.

yes,i just did a quick intake leak test with the wd-40 this morning, i have to say it was inconclusive, so this evening i am going to ride it for a bit then try it.
ok new symton. best weather i have had in my area for a while today. fired it up rode it and let it warm up bout ten mins., idle stay were it should have for longer then usaul. let it sit on a small decline bout five mins and started reviing real high, how ever this time i could manully turn the idle down by hand and it would stay till i gas it gas, still thinking it has out side force's (nature) has something to do with it
i
will be checking the color of the plugs ths week end
when i did the leak test i only tested the rubber mounts between the cards and motor, was i to check any thing eles?
