carb cleaning ? ( CB750L ) new honda owner

Mike4551
This bike sat for 20 years, but it did start and run a little with  just the fresh gas in the float bowls but the carburetors leaked like crazy. I guess all the soft parts need replacing and a good cleaning, the bike came with a clymer manual and i will try the work myself. this is my 1st Honda, I ride Harleys, but always
liked the honda fours and this one came to us from a very good friends estate , it was her fathers bike and the last time he had a state inspection on it was 1991.I read that honda only sent 5000 of these to our
country , this one is vin.# 4551 on the frame neck, but the engine case says #4561 is this right ? Thanks in advance for any and all help

PS  this bike after cleaning is in very very good condition with only 10,000 plus miles

Welcome to the forum. don't know where you are, but sounds like the bike is pretty rare where you are. Once you get it going, and start riding it; your going to want to throw rocks at those Harley's.
As for the caburators. what are you wanting to know? Where to get kit's? http://www.vintagecb750.com/
What to clean them with? Just get a gallon can of carb cleaner, and a couple cans of spray cleaner from any parts store. hope this helps.

I'am in St.Louis Missouri and i do have the gal. and spray cleaners, are my vin numbers right ? do you know,
I've been riding Harleys since 1969 and I don't think this Honda is going to change that, but like I said I do
like the bike and i can't  wait to get it up and running, it will be different for sure.Is this bike not rare?I see
they don't cost to much of course depending on condition.

Thanks TOOLS

St. Louis MO.  I'm in Kansas City
I do not know much about the DOHC, but it was common for the numbers not to match. I do know the L was a limited edition model, and there are a few threads here on them.
I used to be of that Harley mind set back in the 70's, and early 80's. But thanks to the Harley dealer in Daytona Beach FL in 1987 my eyes were opened. I went home, and sold both the Harleys I had at the time, and have never looked back. I would rather ride a motorcycle then worship a company. Once you start riding that bike, you are going to love it.

Did not really send me to a different brand. Just away from Harley. Man there was so much that happened, but to narrow it down. I had taken my 67 88 cubic inch shovel down. It was kick start only with a 6 volt system. One night the battery boiled, and died. My former friends (that turned out to be typical RUB's with their "me to Harley's" I went down with left me high, and dry. The next day a guy with a Goldwing helped me, by letting me charge the 6 volt battery off his 12 volt system with some wires we found. I got the bike to the Harley dealer. When I went to the service manager, I was told "were not going to work on that bike" and he turned his back to me, and walked away. I pushed the bike 3 blocks down the street to a battery store. They just happened to have a battery for it. It got me back to the camp ground. I left the bike there for the next two days, and just took Taxi's. Swore I would never ride one again.
Motorcycles are my life, not my lifestyle.
TOOLS
P.S. That was not the first time a Harley left me walking, but I have never had a Honda leave me walking.
