 Hi.

For sure. I will check the invoice tomorrow so you can order the same parts with part numbers. They also have gauges. I ordered a gauge from them too. Their gage is excellent, made to withstand cold temperatures ( in case winter gets nasty, this glycerine filled gauge is made to laugh at cold temps and it is made to withstand hot temps, and best of it all, has PSI ( Pounds per Square Inch.) as well as KPC ( Kilograms Per square Centimeter.)  Good to have both readings because sometimes while reading books or getting info on pressure, I get KPC which is used all over the world. Good and fun to learn what 78 lbs of pressure is in KPC.  ( Not KFC, that 'd be Kentucky Fried Crap )

  Need :( for DOHC )

1) 1/8th Adaptor. [Male side 1/8th "BST" and Female side 1/8th "NPT"] Got mine in Stainless Steel.  The only "BST" thread is the engine block/oil sending unit thread. Then on the rest of the threads used including gauge are all "NPT".

2) 1/8th  Elbow. [ Male side 1/8th "NPT" and Female side also 1/8th "NPT"] Also in Stainless Steel. You would not want to see those parts get rusty. Stainless is te best way to go.

3) 1/8th Nipple ( extension pipe.) 5.5 inches in length. Threaded on both ends . Thread size to match the rest, 1/8th "NPT".  Stainless Steel.

4) 1/8th Elbow. [ Female on both ends. 1/8th "NPT" threads.] Stainless Steel.

5) Oil Pressure Gauge. 1.5 inches in diameter. Liquid filled. 0 to 100 PSI.

Will get the part numbers tomorrow. Time to hit the hay !

Re: cb750 oil pressure idiot light

 Ok dude.

   Here it is :

*) Part 1.  Precision Extreme Pressure Pipe Fitting. 1/8th NPT Female X 1/8th BSPT Male Pipe Size Adapter
     Part Number 4092K11.

*) Part 2.  Precision Extreme Pressure Pipe Fitting. 1/8th Pipe Size. 90 Degree 1/8th NPT Female X Male Elbow.
     Part Number 48805K18.

*) Part 3.  Standard Wall Type Stainless Steel Thread Pipe Nipple. 1/8th NPT Pipe Size X 5.5 in Length.
     Part Number 4548K331.

*) Part 4.  Precision Extreme Pressure Pipe Fitting. 1/8th Pipe Size. 90 Degree Female X Female Elbow.
Part Number ( jees, the invoice does not have that part number.)
For this part, call McMaster-Carr (562) 692-5911 and place your order over the phone. Tell them you are looking for the "Female X Female" 1/8th NPT Pipe Size Elbow, same as "Part 2" but this time around female on both ends (instead of male X female). They will give you the part number .

*) Part 5. Low Temperature Stainless Steel-Case Liquid Filled Gauge. 1.5 in Dial. 1/8th Center Back Connection. 1-160 PSI.
      Part Number 9780T11.

That will take care of it. All proffesional parts. Nothing Mickey Moused.  If I can find out the part number for the Female X Female 1/8th NPT Elbow,I will get it over here.

Let me know how it went.

I volunteer JaimeSix to be the generator of Bills of Material for all future projects.  I couldn't do a better job than he did for this.  Nicely done, and my compliments.

Pity I don't have a CB to try this on.

Thanks Guys, but it is all good and with the intention of helping felow bikers. I see lots of advise on SOHC Hondas, but not much on DOHC Hondas.

Will post photos of my bike soon. Been busy at work and visiting family members took away the little time I have to work on my bike. Minor cable routing and such.

 Keep enjoying your bikes !!!!

Re: cb750 oil pressure idiot light

that is true.  I have been putting together a lot of information on my Google drive that could potentially help in the future once I have it organized I will post what I have.

the big thing I feel is the wiring harness, I just ordered all the OEM style wire from dime city and I am just going to create my own harness.  I am putting all this work into my bike and even going dyna so I am going to throw my nasty ass harness from '79 on my bike.  Also would like to relocate a lot of shit to under the seat.

hey Jaimesix what did you use to seal?  Hydraulic sealant seems to what I hear to use? Teflon tape is a NO go correct?  Or is that JUST on the main connection to the oil galley?

 Hi Clint.

Good to read about your wire harness. Interesting. Would like to see when possible your work.  Wire harnesses are doable. Requires dilligence and patience. Great project !

About the sealing material for the pressure gauge connectors and connections, I think Teflon tape works good. From the information I gathered, Teflon tape is not good when using "Electrical" gauges that require grounding through the metal connectors.

Since our gauges are mechanical, there is no ussue with grounding/ground, no electrical components, all the system is mechanical, oil going through a passage ( connections from engine through nipple pipe all the way to gauge.) and reaching the gauge which records pressure as oil hits gauge mechanism.

Working on an oil temperature gauge as well, mechanical gauge ( to avoid electrical connections and extra issues ). Will bring in my findings soon. Ordered an oil filled oil temp gauge that is threaded, so it could be mounted on an oil passage bolt. As soon as I get the gauge I will see if it would work and if it does will post findings.

Seen some oil temp gauges that work in place of the oil dip stick. I would not want to replace my oil dip stick with an oil temp gauge because how else would I check oil levels?  Plus it would have to be some fabricated thing since there is no specific DOHC Honda part made.  The other alternative I also do not find atrractive would be an electrical oil temp gauge. Again I do not want to add the electrical sender unit and electrical connections. I'd rather use a mechanical gauge, but unlike the mechanical gauge already mentioned, not interested in replacing the oil dip stick.

The one I am looking after would be liquid filled ( like the pressure gauge) to protect gauge needle and mechanism from engine vibrations and due to its size, easily mounted on this oil inspection bolt ( drilling and tapping the larger bolt to accomodate the threaded gauge ) so as to provide good readings because of location within engine/oil galleries, as well as retaining nice position.

   Will keep you posted.

Today I desided ( before installation) to powder coat the parts( adaptor and such) black ( since my engine is black.) On a black motor it would not look that nice to have silver parts.

On a silver motor it would be great w/o any coloring.  Will post pics.

Re: cb750 oil pressure idiot light

I have a 1979 LTD Edition CB750 (my first bike) and planning on using a tee fitting to get a gauge and idiot light working together.

Couple of questions...

- Did you ever put that Google Doc together?

- Can you list who all those parts were ordered from? The original post deleted their comments.

- How the hell do you get the oil pressure sender switch off? There's no room at all to get in there.

- When doing this, is it likely to have oil spew out everywhere when you take off the switch? (again, this is my first bike)

Thanks!
