chain cleaning

Rockwork
What is the best procedure to clean and lubricate the chain?

The bike I recently purchased (78 cb750f) came with a lot of c**p on the chain. I've heard its best to use a cleaner and then wax. Is the wax a lube also? Of the several products out there, what are the best and most essential?

Thanks.

Here's a link listing multiple lubes and the Grunge Brush, all reviews, and commentary:  link.  I prefer the DuPont Teflon Multi-Use dry wax lubricant (link).  Do a little reading, then you can make an informed decision.  Cheers!
