Is there anyway to do a compression check with the engine out of the frame

Sure. As long as your starter is still hoked up you should be fine. Of course you could kick it,too. As long as it's situated firmly.

Agreed. As long as it turns over just as fast as it normally should you are fine.

Turbos, Hondas, 4-bangers, what could go wrong?
