hello, does any body know what the compresiion should be on a 78 f1 with about 30,000 miles on the clock ??..

Well first, if it is a 78, it is an F3 in the USA and an F2 in the rest of the world.
Compression in that engine could vary quite a bit. You would want it 120 or up but anything lower than 100 is trouble. If you get a low reading, put a tablespoon of oil in the cylinders and try it again. If it goes up, then the rings are bad, if no change then the valves are shot. Valves were a common issue in this engine.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
