correct amount of oil needed???

medhatcb750F
Hi...just picked up my 1980 HOnda CB750 F, and going through the regular things a bike has to have done after it has been neglected all these years...
So...I have the Clymers manual and it has 2 different amounts required for oil change.
I need the following info please...
1.  What is the correct amount of oil needed when changing oil and filter?
2.  Does the dipstick get screwed in all the way to check oil level?  Or just set it on top of the threads.
3.  The bike has an external oil cooler...do i have to add any extra oil for that?
Sorry for what may be simple answers for the vets here...just wanting to make sure.
thx

1. 3.7qt at oil change.  4.7qt at engine assembly.
2. Just set it on top of the threads. Do NOT screw it in.
3. Depends on many factors like whether it drains back, size of cooler and size and length of hoses.
Fill to the proper level at oil change then start the engine and run it for 30 seconds or so then shut it off for a few seconds. Now check the level and note the amount you have to add (if any) for future oil changes.

what polymer said is dead nuts. everything is a factor. do you have the stock small oil cooler like found on cb900? or an after market one? either way run it for a min or so let to oil cycle then stop the motor wait 30 secs and check the oil.

Isn't that exactly what I said? The specs are directly from the Honda service manual.
Learn to read dude.

Sorry guys, I didn't realize this forum was limited to younger people.
I always thought proper English was the preferred  language.
I guess I'll have to find myself a forum for English speaking grownups.
