dyna ignition install

jcsnu21
had a question or two for anyone who has used the dyna ignition. I've very easily located the two wires that the new ignition plugs into but there is a red lead wire that is supposed to go to a black w/white stripe wire. Maybe its me, maybe its the guy I bought the bike from changing stuff but I cannot find this damn wire. Can someone tell me, or better yet, show me with a hi res color picture, where this wire is that I'm supposed to be splicing into?

also, what are people's opinions of Steve Carpenter's stuff. It seems good to me, the little bit I have, but curious what the consensus is

thanks
jc

Which dyna? I will assume you are talking about the S? What is this wire for? been a while since I hooked mine up but if you can tell what the wire is supposed to do as per the instructions, I can probably tell you what to do.

Dyna S DS1-2 is what I bought. Looks like the red line is supposed to go to the switched 12 volt line, which I thought was supposed to be the black/white wire. Can't find the line though! Help! (and thanks in advance)

I have the dyna s  with electric start.   the blue and yellow obviously go to one side of each coil.from the other side of each i have a red on one and a black on the other. those two(RED/BLACK) go to a 4 way splice with that red lead your talking about and a wire goiing to the (I) post on the ignition switch.

Let me know how this went for you...
I'm considering a Dyna Ignition, myself.  had some electrical shorts/ charging system problems.
Hope to have them worked out later this week, and tune the carbs.  Next step, possibly...Dyna.
Your input would be very helpful.

I just installed the dyna s on my 78 cb750k .The red wire goes to a black and white wire at the front of the coils---this is a switched wire that feed the power to the coils---if you can't find this wire you can use another source such as the switched hot wire for brake light switch on right side of bike---this is per dyna s instructions----I had to lengthen the red wire about a foot to get it to the coils---IT WORKS GREAT---STARTS QUICKER --WARMS UP QUICKER---RUNS SMOOTHER---MORE POWER---WISH I HAD THE COILS ALSO----I ALSO HAVE A 76 CB750 THAT WILL HAVE A DYNA S IN IT AS SOON AS FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE----------------------------JESUS  SAVES------------------!!!

The s is a big improvement over the points. Just keep your points plate just in case as it will go back on easy. Take it with on road trips as a back up. I have not had an issue with mine but always good to have the spare on a long trip.
