engine rebuilt......Cycle Exchange vs Carpy

sinjinle
I was thinking of having my engine rebuilt. Carpy (cb750cafe.com) does it for $2500, Cycle Exchange listed $2500 and up. Would like to get some feedback as to the service and quality of both. I live in Cali, so Carpy is close to me. Does anybody on here ever bought anything from Carpy?
thanks.

What I do is find the best machine shop I can in my area. Then I disassemble the engine, and give them all the parts to measure, and machine where necessary. After that I reassemble the engine myself using new parts where necessary. It's the machining that makes, or breaks a rebuilt engine, and $300.00 buys a lot of machining.

Shipping fees and building a crate to ship the engine is going to add on hundreds of dollars.

I would ask members first.
Always find out what you get for the $2500.00
What does it includes or not include.

Amen brother! They are out to make a buck, not protect consumers. We had a lady complain to the BBB TWO YEARS after we installed her HVAC system because we refused to drive 50 miles and replace her air filter for free as a warranty claim. We informed both the customer AND the BBB that two years is waaaay past due for the first filter change EVER on any system and that we would be glad to change the filter and clean/repair any resulting damages/blockages per out usual service charge. Long story short, the BBB will agree to erase her complaint from our record if we agree to a $1800 dollar processing fee!!!  Ain't happening!

SCREW YOU BBB YOU GREEDY CROOKED LYING NO GOOD %*#&(($#'s

p.s.   we tried to issue a complaint against the BBB    LOL    they didnt like that ...and the paperwork they promised never showed up in the mail. Imagine that.

Yes....Just what i was talking about.

It does not matter who is right, the consumer or the vendor.
The BBB still gets their fees. It is a business.

I flew from Arizona to Chicago to check out a firm that deals with patents.
That business had a BBB sticker on their window.
When I returned home a friend of mine showed me a newspaper article
that said the business I checked out had 33 counts of mail fraud against it.
BTW before I left, that business wanted to get $1500.00 from me.
I said "I will think it over." I was Lucky I did not pay.

Sorry about that man. I am horrible about getting off topic. I was thinking about your post and was considering what I have seen on Carpy's website. I dont know for sure, but it doesn't seem he has his own machine shop. I would imagine he is farming out his engine machining to someone else. He probaly assembles them himself, but I doubt he is setup to handle the maching.Just a thought. I could be wrong so dont hold me to it!
