front axle

Want to put on new rotors on front. Do I need to take this somewhere to get done or can I do it myself? It looks like I might need a press or something.

Do you mean new brake rotors? I would think you should be able to do that yourself without too much trouble. Put the bike on the center stand and then use rope over some rafters to take the weight off the front end. Weight on the rear of the bike will do it too. You might have to take the calipers off. Then remove the axle caps and the front wheel will come off. OH remove the speedo cable too.
One tip, there are something like 5 or 6 bolts that hold the rotors on, maybe before you remove the wheel, loosen those just a bit. Kinda like like loosening lug nuts before jacking the car tire off the ground. You should have no issue.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Yeah, Ive got it all off except the rotor on the side of the speedo unit is blocking the rotor from coming off. Wondering if I need to use a puller to get it off and if I'll need to have it pressed back in place. Thanks

I had my wheels painted this winter and can assure you this is no difficult task. I couldnt disconnect the speedo so what I did was disconnect from the gauge side and left the assembly pressed to the hub. As far as the rotor goes, simply undo the bolts and the rotor comes right off, no worries mate.
