Go get some of those cheap tarps from Harbor Freight, and put them on the ceiling joists. That way you will keep most of your heat down where you are, and not up in the rafters.

That's gonna be the problem, the high ceiling.

Prob nice and toasty up there.

I've got the same deal in my garage.
I want to keep it open, easy access for storage,
but I can't heat the place, it all goes right up in the trusses.

Something that is a little more expensive is R-max. In my area , it's $10/sheet vs $7/sheet for OSB. But one side of it is foil so it reflects light very well. It also weighs next to nothing so installing it by yourself is a snap. Since it's foam it is waterproof,so if you happen to get a roof leak it wont be affected/rotted by the water.

Just a thought.

^^^This stuff USED to be super cheap. Like, $3/sheet. Darn petroleum prices raised the price, though.

It's what I used in my shop. I love it. Foil duct tape the seams and you have a air tight ceiling. It's obviously not a very strong material, but it will support the weight of insulation when you get around to that point. I hung mine with Button Caps about 12-14 years ago and it hasn't moved a bit.

I'd do the ceiling thing first, the rmax thing.
60,000 btu should do it with an 8 to 10 foot sealed ceiling.

The drums, yeah they put it out, but it's a major hassle with the wood and ash all the time.
Even then, most of the heat will rise to the rafters.

Well been doing a little checking and the drum wood burner seamed the cheapest. This is the  start.First burn to get the paint off.Just doing the first burn to get the paint off. Wow they seam to put off some heat. I will be doing the insolation later that is a 600 to 1000 dollar job just for the ceiling. It will get do just not right away. Still needing the work on my bike build.

Nice!

An old man I know had a stove (not like yours, regular wood stove) and he added an oil drip to it. It was an old air brake tank of one of his dumptrucks. He put his old, used motor oil in there and had a black iron line run to the top of the stove. There was an inline valve the used to control the flow of oil. He would set that thing to where it would drip every few seconds. It doesn't sound like much, but I've seen a log not much bigger than 10'' in diameter burn allllll day long like that. It was a real wood saver and a good way to get rid of your old oil. It also made it very easy to start a fire since you could open the valve and get a good dose of oil on a wet log.

I have watched a few videos on youtube about oil drip stoves. That would be nice, but then I would have to change my oil for heat.....  Joking hahaha  I have been think about that, But that will be a summer project.
