Hi, im new to the forum. Just got a 1983 cb 750 f. The engine had a strange knocking sound, sounded like the big end bearings, but after doing a little research on the web id seen other guys with the same problem and the soloution was maybe the 3 bolts on the starter clutch. So off i went with tools in hand took off cover, and couldnt get spanner onto bolts as the spark advancer was in the way, so i took the 8mm bolt out that holds it all in and checked the 3 bolts which were ok. I TRIED putting it back togeather but i cant seem to get the locating pin at the back of the spark advancer to locate in the slot in the crank shaft ?
When i put everything back on the distance between the locating pin and the slot in the crankshaft is far too much for the pin to locate. The spark advancer is free rotating, surely thats not right ???
anyone any advice ?
