how to get this c clip out

tcazes
how to get it out of the engine block...... i was removing the pistons and well the very last one i had to do (cylinder 3) the clip popped off and in my fumble went down the dark abyss ....any idea how to get it out of the case without splitting the cases.... there is a bunch of sediment around where the connecting rods are ( i assume was caked around the jugs and when i removed them it all went into the top of the block) so i mean could i fill the case with something to kinda clean that out as well or should i suffer the task of splitting the cases?

What clip? What sediment around connecting rods? What model engine? How about a picture?

Im assuming a wrist pin clip fell into the engine cases during disassembly. If you can't fish it out with a magnet you're probably looking at splitting the cases. The hardest part of disassembling/reassembling these engines is the jugs and top end, which you've apparently already done, so opening the rest of the engine will be a snap. Besides, it sounds like it needs a good cleaning anyway. Good luck!

i got it with a telescopic magnet. the jugs were indeed a pain, a tap here, a flathead as a wedge there, and then soaked with some marvel mystery oil and they came right off. i plan to take the oil pan off and run a good bit of gas or oil or something through it to somewhat clean the case out.
