Just loosen the bolts on the triple trees, and let them slide down as far as, you want them. It's easy. the hard part is making them longer.

Not really. A lot of guys are doing it, so it could not be too bad.

When I tryed checking about puting shorter tubes or springs in tubes
The 2 race sights I checked with said " YES ",would "CHANGE" handleing, but they never returned to me in witch way / type of handleing would change or if they had an trpile trees to help with the handleing,or another link,(parts and such)Ive made drastic changes on other bikes and only onces have I had a noticeable differance,(longer tubes with narrow tire).
...My opion is The manufacture made it the way ,they thought was best for that type(bike) and time period?

I'm slipping mine down an inchand going to try it (when bike gets going)and get the fill and then maybe drop another 1/2,..........
Do to the fact the ???
My Bike I have to change tire / wheel and may loose my dual disc
is the only reason I'm doing it this way>>>Piute<<<

Re: lower forks

sgtslag
An interesting side bar regarding handling, and tire sizes...  One article I read a few years ago, stated that an owner was changing his tires out due to wear.  He decided to take a chance, and put the recommended tire width back on, so it would match OEM specifications.  He commented he always replaced OEM with wider tires, thinking it would handle better, particularly in corners.

He stated he was quite shocked that his bike, with the narrower, OEM spec'ed tires on, handled much better than it had with the wider tires...  He stated he was afraid the bike would 'fall into corners', with the narrower tires.  Instead, the bike handled much better than he remembered it ever handling.  He stated that 'perhaps the manufacturer knew more than he thought' about what size tires to put on that bike.

I confess, I run wider than what is spec'ed on my Honda.  I, too, would be interested in trying out tires that matched exactly what Honda specified, originally.

Any changes made to the bike, will change the handling -- most likely away from optimal, but then, again, the OEM designed them for an "average rider" with 'average' height, weight, and build.  If it works, and it is safe, then go for it.  The hard part is finding out if it is, in fact, safe.  Cheers!

Not only is it hard, but could be expensive, both for the bike and medical bills :(

I recently lowered the forks on by '77 750f by 2 in.  Still handles great!  No noticeable difference as far as I'm concerned.  And I put on some hard tail struts in the rear cut to 10.5 in.
