my cb wont run with the choke off

i can start my 81 cb750 c straight off with the choke.  it will run and fluxuate in rpm between 1000 and 3000 after the point where it should be warm, it will just die out.
any suggestions?

 sounds like your idle circuit is clogged up, or try turning your idle fuel mixture screws out to 3 turns
from lightly seated, have you had your carbs off and cleaned the crap out of em, do you run a stock airbox,
 these carbs dont work right without the stock airbox on it,,plugs might be fouled?  good luck, mykee440
