my CB1000 Custom

When i got this fantastic ride it had a windshield and cloth seat and still had the original side panels, thats it.  I added the sissy bar, saddle bags and side panels.  I was "GIVEN" this bike by a friend who left state and could not take it with him.  The bike was in a shop because it wouldnt start for him,  the shop was going to charge him 1000$ to fix.  I took the bike home and hit the start button to see what was going on.  The starter spun right up so i checked the starter clutch.  There was no starter clutch!  The bike was missing other stuff from that side too, like engine mount nuts and washers.  I called the shop and asked them if they had my parts lying around,  the guy put the phone down and looked,  when he came back he said he didnt have any parts for my bike.  My buddie said the bike would turn over but not start (turns out the choke cable was broke).  I knew it went into the shop with all its parts but didnt come out.  Whatever 80 bucks on ebay and ive got my starter clutch, put all new fluids and greases in, quick fixed the choke cable and it fired right up.  Did i mention it was sitting in a garage for 10 years untouched?  Awsome,  took it for a short easy ride and parked it,  got the hole saw and beefy drill out and hollowed out the pipes except for the very back passageway with the 4 quarter sized holes in it.  Recently I put the seat cover on and degreased the engine.  The seat cover is actually a 20 dollar car seat cover that i bought about 8 years ago.   Ive done a little work on the carbs,  cleaned the jets and float bowl and the top half, the jets were done out of necessity when i was stuck on the side of I-5 in Lynnwood.   Anyway my hands hurt sooo... later everyone!

I opened this post, and saw re-bar, and leather. AWESOME!!!!
I see you have a Trooper. Most overbuilt vehicle on the road. If two bolts would hold something, they used eight.

Thanks TOOLS,  i decided to fab and add the re-bar highway bars on the way home from a 100 mi. ride with the group.  My buddy and I pulled up to a red light and I looked at him and asked "you want to goto the hardware store and make some highway bars"?  he looks over and says "yup"!  and thats what happened.  My buddy had all the supplies at his place so we skipped the hardware store and made one for each of our bikes.  About the Trooper,  I'm probably the most satisfied owner ever!!!!  Bought it for 450$ off craigs list, drove it about 90 mi. home (it barely made it the last 5 mi.)  did your basic tune up,  spark plugs and wires, replaced cat with a strait pipe and a new cap and rotor.  The super Trooper has been running fairly well for the past 4 years.  Things have broke and been replaced but the engine has never quit on me and nothing major has broken that wasnt caused by my constant torture.  I like to use it for what it was made for,  I had 33x12.5 TSL swampers on it with 15 in. alum mags.  It was awesome until i had to give up the tires for their monetary value....i hate bills!!

Thanks!  Speaking of long haul,  I recently got back from a 500 mi. round trip to the Washington state rally for Southern Cruisers,  of which I am road captain in Mt. Baker chapter #420.  The Ride was made with my best buddy and his 2005 Honda Shadow 750.  Only ended up on the side of the freeway once when #1 and 2 cylinders decided to shut down.  We took the bowls off and found the jets to be very clogged with a rust colored sludge.  Ive only owned the bike for about 5 months and didnt have a chance to check the carbs out before hand.  It was apparent the rusty tank had done a tole before I was able to get the inline filter on.  Anyway the rest of the ride was awesome, we cruised through Seattle at an average of 80 mphwith little to no traffic.  With the newly installed highway bars and our stuff packed against the sissy bars we had what we called "couch cruisers"  I was practically laying down the entire trip and arrived at the destination at 3:45am without a single complaint from my body.  We parked the bikes ass to ass,  tied a rope to the top of the sissy bars,  threw a tarp on the ground and over said rope and promptly CRASHED into our bags.   Um I guess I was just trying to say the bike is awesome for long trips... Im a bit long winded at times.

Seattle huh. My bratty little sister lives there. She keeps wanting me to come out, and visit. However for some strange reason I have this urge to hitch-hike there.

Same here. I really dig that highway bar. Very nice!

TSL's are awesome tires. I've owned two sets (well, one set of TSL's & one set of Thornbirds) in the past and nothing else has compared. The sound they make on the highway is just sweet, sweet music.

Welcome to the forum.

I had a blast running through Seattle but it was like 1:30 am.  Me and my buddy's favorite thing to do while there was to split 50/50 around the car that we eventually came upon.  There was a totall of like 5 cars the whole time, it was weird.  We had the entire freeway to ourselves the whole of Seattle and every time we saw a cop...he already had someone pulled over.  We were open carrying as well sooo nobody really got mad at us, well at least they didnt make it known.
