oil in pulsar unit

munster
Hi. Could anyone tell me, I have a small amount of oil getting into the pulsar side of the engine, is this normal. It's a DOHC 750. I have just done a top end build, I guess there would have been a bit of crankcase pressure for the first period of bedding in.

Don't worry about it. Perfectly normal.

Hi Eric, it's fresh oil and it must have got past the crank seal...You think leave it well alone, i am happy with that...It looks like the seals go in in from the inside.

Hello Munster - not sure if it's relevant but I find oil on the inside of the pulse-generator cover on my '82 750C.  From the fact that the pulse-generator cover has a gasket and the fact that all the pulse-generators I see are kinda oil-covered I think that this is standard...

Hi and thanks for the comment, I thought that might be the case with the two gaskets, the only thing that made me doubt that was the oil seal on the engine side, maybe the seal helps regulate the flow, does anyone know if there is a drain hole back to the crankcase...has anyone got an engine down at the moment...might be worth a look.

There is no oil seal on the pulse generator (LH) side of the motor. It runs in oil. That is normal. There is a large drain hole in the bottom of the cavity, open to the lower crankcase. Lean the bike over to the side (don't do it!) and oil will pour out. This question has been answered many times. Do a search in the search box, top rh of screen.
