oil under generator cover

I started pulling my motor apart, should I have oil in the generator cover?   and how do I get the flywheel off?    1974 cb750

How much oil do you have? It is fairly common to have a tiny amount, generally under a teaspoon of oil in there.

As for the flywheel, are you talking the rotor under that cover?

yeah, there's not much in there, I had the motor on it's side when I removed the oil pan, and then removed the Alernator cover and saw that there was some oil in there, just confused me a little, because of the electrics, but there are gears in there(starter and flywheel) so I guess they need some lube. Yes the flywheel/stator/whatever you want to call it. Can I use the bolt I took out of the middle to push off of with my puller? I don't have that fancy puller that screws in.

My honda shop manual for the K8 (which should be about the same) says to remove a bolt. It appears that it does not sit flush but is recessed into the rotor. So a puller would not work.
