performance clutch???

DrewArit
I'm boring my motor and putting a new cam in, with all this new horsepower is it necessary for me to use a performance clutch? what about a heavy duty clutch spring? I don't want pulling the clutch lever to be a pain when I'm riding in town. Any advise would be a big help.

Oh, and if you could recommend some brands of clutch kits that would be great too. Thanks.

I talked to the guys from cycle x and another mechanic. Sounds like all performance clutches and heavy duty clutch springs do is make the bike a pain in the butt to ride.

It is a good idea to replace your clutch spring when you replace your clutch for the first time, it is 30 years old after all, but OEM quality is fine.

If you talked to cycleX I am guessing you have an SOHC. If so, many just stick with the honda plates. They work great. Make sure you soak the plates over night in your oil and install them all facing the same way, the sides that is.
if you find slip, then upgrading to the barnett springs is what most people do. So honda plates with barnett springs. Yes the pull will be harder but the clutch will hook very well. You may want to put in new honda springs at least though.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
