please help my 750K!

seaofsin22
Hello just purchased a 1982 CB750K that needs some help.  Im new to the site and this is my first bike to restore.  I dont know the history of the bike but it needs some work. New exhaust, spark plugs, oil, brake fluid is bone dry, air filter, clean chain...etc  Im starting off with 2 questions and Im including pictures.
1) The guy a bought the bike from said that once I get a new exhast to just plug in the fuel line from the gas tank to the engine.  He left me a fuel filter that wasnt connected.  Is the picture set up correct??

2) The other 2 pictures are on the left side of the bike.  There was a connector that wasnt connected and I was wondering if this was supposed to connect to something??

Thanks for any help and knowledge, Jimmy

Your fuel filter is backwards. It will work like that, but you will not be able to see when it gets dirty. Also you have the wrong type of fuel line. Go to a motorcycle shop, or vintagecb750.com and get some motorcycle fuel line. It is smaller, more flexible, and does not need hose clamps (these systems are not under pressure like automobile systems.)
The connector is a ground, but I do not know where it would connect. You can download the factory service manual from the home page here, and it has wiring diagrams.

The fuel filter usually has an ARROW indicator on it... which shows the way the gas should flow.

Thanks for your help!!  Is this fuel filter normally "hanging" out like that or is the set up usually a fuel line from the tank to the engine??

The bikes came with a filter screen inside the petcock, and not an external filter. However a lot of people install them. I myself do not bother with them unless the tank has rust, or has been sealed.
