poor idleing and wont tickover

trikeboiler
Hi all, hope someone can help, my kz 750 dohc had been stood for just over 20years, when I acquired it the fist job was carbs off and clean, it is now all back together, she will start no problem at all, but as soon as I open the throttle she revs up and stays there, I cant slow it down without winding out the idle screw then it slows and stops. everything inside the carbs appeared ok, all jets cleaned and anything that looked suspect was replaced, any info greatly received, thanks.

Vacuum leak. Check the boots between the carbs and the head.

They should be pliable. They are not going to seal around the carbs/ports if they are hard. You can restore them by boiling them in a mixture of 2 oz winter green oil and a quart of water for 45 minutes. You might also want to get new clamps, as they will stretch over time.
