removal of tank badges

johnnya
hi folks...........can someone advise, do the tank badges just peel off with a knife etc or are they mechanically fixed....cheers

Older bikes like my 74 are held on with two small screws, newer ones are fixed on with molding adhesive.
Don't try a pry them off, you'll snap them in two and probably pull off some paint. Use a hot air gun to soften the glue then gently peel them off. 3M sells double sided tape made just for auto moldings, works great. Buy at auto paint supply stores.

What older ones fam? You mean earlier years? If so, you can also use fishing line and move it back and forth between the tank and badge to remove it. Other wise, later years were screw ons. The 77 and 78 were screw ons.
