That would be a tough stretch to get it to fit correctly. However I have seen harder things done. But I think I would send the cover back, and get the correct one, or find an upholstery shop to recover the seat for you. I have a shop near me that does great work, and it is usually around $80.00

Yes an auto interior shop. There is a lot of difference between automobile seats, and arm chairs.

Thanks, I will price them up, my 79 has the steel seat, so hopefully they can get it sorted...missing a left side panel decal, on the hunt for one and then I have a complete shiny bike ready to eat road.

I'd check out a boat upholsterer if your not worried about originality. They will have more water resistant materials in stock, helps to keep the price down some.

I will second the use of marine-quality vinyl for your bike seat.  I used a custom upholstry shop, using marine-grade vinyl.  I had it for several years after the job was done, and I had no issues with it.  Here is a link to what my bike looked like with the work completed:  link.  Cheers!

Thanks for the hint.  I have had tailbone issues with the seat on my Shadow, and recently bought a roached-out replacement seat.  I plan on changing the profile (flattening it out more, instead of a "pocket" for the posterior), adding new foam where needed, and a new cover (NOS or custom, depending on the cost).

Updates to follow.
