If it is lower while not changing the pan or how it mounts, the foam is thinner. The foam on our seats is quite thick, but that is what makes them so comfortable.
Same could be done with the stock seat. Just get a serrated knife such as a bread knife, a new cover, and cut the foam away and put the new cover on. It isn't too hard other than trying to get it straight.
Our pans do not need a staple gun as there are spikes on the pan that pierce the cover to hold it.
When I did mine, I didn't cut the foam, I fitted bolts with washers into the chrome trim ring(there is a why to get the heads in and you will see it if you look) and then through the cover and pan. Then put a washer and nut on the other end.
It has been a few years, so I should pull my cover off again and repaint my pan. That is the 1 downside with a metal pan. They rust away.
