signal replacement

RAdam
Hi there.

first timer here. I am having trouble with my new replacement signal lights. I removed my Vetter fairing which had all working signals and am trying to instal (identical to OEM) front signals but they wont blink. I have read other threads with similar issues and after reading a successful report I have wired the lights in the same fashion however the results are different;)

I wired it wrong at the start and the left signal blinked so I believe that the relay is working however I have not tried to replace it. I know the bulbs are all the correct volt and wattage so I don't think its a power drawing issue for the flasher.

when everything is hooked up I get solid front and back lights turned on. 1 rear and 1 front at a time when I switch to the left or right signal.

Now it's my understanding that the running lights are dimmer than the turn signal but when the bike is on the front signals are BRIGHT and when I flip the left/right turn signal the lights go dimmer.

I have grounded the lights in the proper double female green wires (one in each?) so I'm wondering if the lights are faulty or if its just a relay or grounding issue that I have to troubleshoot?

any help would be great, I know this is a issue that has been gone over already but it's sunny out and I'm pulling out my hair!

thanks so much

Are you connecting to the correct wires? Orange for left, Light Blue for right. There is also an Orange/White, and a Light Blue/White. Which are the running lights.

Re: signal replacement

RAdam
I believe so, following another post from this site I have done the following.

red
black
black W/white stripe

from signal to bike

red into orange double female
black w/white strip into orange w/white stripe single female
black into double green female

and then the same with the other signal into blue...... and the black into the other green double female

I believe that is what another fellow on here said worked for him.

except mine stay on and are bright to start with and then the one indicated will go dim when the right or left signal button is pushed.

thanks for your help.

Try switching the Orange with the Orange/White, and the Light Blue with The Light Blue/White. That should fix it.

Re: signal replacement

Ok got it working! Thanks for your help TOOLS!

I switched the wires(which I can't believe I didn't try already) but contrary to what worked for another
guy, mine worked with this combo

Red - light blue/orange
Black- light blue/orange with white strip
Black with white strip- ground.

I was sure black was ground but.....alas!

This site is a great resource. Thanks so much!
