sticking clutch plates

s.pridden
I own a cb750 k6 which I have been unable to ride due to the clutch not operating.I have stripped it down

and replaced all the plates with new from david silver, but the problem still persists.

The plates seem to get coated with a film of oil/water and have to be prized apart with a screw driver

and cleaned.

Can anyone please advise me why this should be happening?

                                 Regards,

Only things that could be causing this is your oil,  a badly slipping clutch, or worn clutch springs.

First off, what oil are you using? Brand, weight, and does it have the energy conserving logo on the back of the bottle?

Since you already have your clutch out, measure the springs. In the manual is a spec for the springs, if they fall out of this range, you need new ones.

Finally, when you put it all together, make sure your cable slides freely and make sure the clutch is properly adjusted.

Most of my money is on the oil though.

+1 and in addition the next time you have it out have the steels glass-beaded.  This will break the capilarry action of the oil on the plates, and gives a super consistentely smooth clutch action.

By the name of the oil it sounds like you are in the U.K. We might be getting world wide!!

Anyways, I would suggest trying a diesel oil Such as rotella T if you got it, or something like that.
Make sure you fully drain all 3 points; tank, filter housing, and pan. While you have the filter housing off, hit the start a couple short bursts and you will get more oil out. It does shoot out a bit so be ready for that.

+1 on woods' suggestion too.
