super sport front end wont fit!?!?

irishcafe07
does anyone know if the standard cb750 and the cb750 F triple clamps are the same? i am having a little trouble putting my super sport front end on my CB (which is a CB750F frame) it seems like the clamps are not wide enough not leaving enough room for the dual disks, or a may have another issue. let me know guys and thanks for your help i would be lost without reading these boards!

Well the 70-76 years should all be the same I think as far as the trees are concerned. But they were also only a single disk. The 77/78 trees should be the same too but I have not seen them first hand together.

What year is your bike?

Are you sure the bike is an F in the first place? Either way, you should be able to leave on the current tree and just slip the F forks in. Mount the wheel and then put on the calipers.

i am sure the bike is a super sport. but would that really matter anyway?
thats what i figured about the front end but it just goes in all, well "caddywompus"
doesnt fit well and the tire doesnt sit straight, and the top of the right brake rubs against the fork.
something is off here any ideas guy?

Can you post pictures of the front end? I am thinking it might be a newer unit.

i will try and post pictures today or tomorrow. hopefully your trained eye will be able to spot the issue.
someone at work presented an idea to me, he thought if the forks are bent i can use a pair of front forks for a single disk front wheel (that i have and know fits) and just take one disk brake off and convert the dual disk super sport front wheel to a single disk. what do you all think of this idea?

Well you could probably do that but the F2/3 rims are different and so the rotor offset may not work with a K front brake.
Get the pics and if you can, try to get a pic of what is the causing the issue.

Re: super sport front end wont fit!?!?

so gentlemen let me get into detail here. from what i understand from the previous owner ( and i realize that is not a great source of info but it is all i have to go off) the gray forks should fit the super sport wheels. the black forks should fit the single disk wheel. the super sport wheel does not fit the gray forks. it sits crooked and the right disk rubs the fork ( i mean it is not even close it just does not fit)

so hopefully the jedi councel can look at these pics and might be able to spot the problem. help me out boys

OK the po is WAY off. The single disk wheel(spoked) fits the grey forks. The other(comstar)fits the black forks. See the single disk was on the K bikes. The dual disk was on the F bikes.

ok so black wheels with black forks. will try that. the spoke wheels are garbage just using them to mock the bike up.

I keep looking at that first picture. Is it me?

Appears the fork tubes are at an angle. The top tree looks wider than the bottom tree.

Dang, I just sold a bunch of SS parts on flea bay. Would rather help a member. :)

nah looks the same to me, maybe cuz the tank's lines are curvy it creates a sort of optical illusion, also if the photo was not taken perpendicular to the forks, it might also create that effect...
