That sounds like you have a bad ground on one of the lights.
Make sure all lights are grounded. I sometimes use a wire to help the front ground on bikes with tubes for headlight bracket. The CX500's have this and it helps them allot.

Use a wire and hold it from the light to a good clean spot on the frame to locate the problem area
